Weekly update October 7 to 13

Writer: 2818 Army Cadet Corps2818 Army Cadet Corps

Hello Everyone - looks like fall has arrived!

Now that school has been in session for a month and we are all communing indoors, viruses are spreading. Even I was a victim this week. Please stay vigilant with washing your hands and taking care of yourselves. If you are not feeling well, please stay home and get well - both physically and mentally.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help with the Gleaner's Food Drive on Sunday. We have two grocery stores covered however the food bank will need extra help unloading food as it arrives. We have some parents volunteering to support our cadets on site and WO's Goyer and MacDonald to lead their fellow cadets with whatever support is required. If anyone else is interested in helping, please report to the Gleaner's Food Bank at 25 Wallbridge Crescent at whatever time you are available. Many hands make light work. A chili Lunch will be served at 12:00 noon.

Monday Oct 7 is our first CO's parade. Please take time this weekend to wash your shirts, clean/shine your boots and take extra time to review your uniforms. Sew on badges if need be.

There are lots of new activities to add to our schedule so please see below.

Welcome to our new cadet family this week. It is great to see new cadets joining our team every week. Please continue to share what fun your cadet is having with friends and family and invite them to join us. Cadet training is more successful when you are doing it with your friends. Consider car pooling from your community as we know some of you are travelling to ensure your cadet's success (thank you for your dedication).

We are continuing to update files through the Annual Validation forms. If you have not already returned this form, please do so asap. I will be following up with a phone call if we have not heard from you.

If your cadet is not returning to training this year, please advise and return all uniforms and parts to the corps asap.

Upcoming Activities:

We will be working at two grocery stores on North Front Street - Freshco and Metro.

Cadets are invited to attend lunch at the Food Bank to thank them for their efforts.

We require two cadets per store for the morning shift (10:00 to 12:00 noon followed by lunch) and then two more for the afternoon shift (starting with lunch then 1:00 to 3:00 pm).

An adult will be in attendance with them at all times.

Parents are asked to drop off and pick up their cadets at their assigned stores.
